Our approach

Sexual problems and dissatisfaction can result from a combination of physical and psychological factors. Your relationships, the medicines you take and your environment can also play a role in your sexual health.

Your sexual wellness is an important component of your overall health. Sometimes intimacy and sexual problems can be related to physical conditions such as vuvlar vestibulitis (vestibulodynia) which can lead to recurrent yeast or bacterial vaginal infections, interstitial cystitis or irritable bowel syndrome.

Our multidisciplinary approach ensures you are able to access the specialized attention you need - always in a supportive, caring and highly personalized environment. We're successful because of our emphasis on understanding as much about you as possible.

In order to individualize your goals at the Methodist Sexual Health and Wellness Clinic, Omaha, Nebraska, you have a choice when first visiting us. We have two options for your initial evaluation:

The first is comprehensive evaluation lasting an hour and a half. The first 45-minute appointment offers an interview by our licensed therapist, which includes a detailed history of your concerns, including relationship issues and things that have happened in the past that may be contributing to your problem.

The next 45-minutes is spent with our nurse practitioner. She will examine you and evaluate physical and hormonal factors that need to be addressed; very likely some laboratory work will be done. Based on these combined interviews and exams, we will recommend a treatment plan which we will discuss with you (and your partner if you wish).

The second option we call a direct referral. This appointment is for an hour and is designed for people who feel that they have a good grasp of whether their problem is centered in the relationship/psychological area or is primarily gynecological. A treatment plan will be developed here, as well.
